My physician visit on January 5th was extremely fulfilling and motivating. While I did not meet the challenge of 320 lbs, I made it down to 322 lbs! For those keeping score that is a difference of 16 lbs since the Thanksgiving Holiday. My physician was extremely pleased and informed me that depending on how my body responded to the naturally made insulin and being under 300 lbs would enable me to possibly stop taking my diabetes medication and I could possibly stop taking my hypertension medication as well!
I am going to continue working towards my initial goal of 300 lbs by March 31st and the New Year will see me incorporating weight lifting to compliment my cardio workouts.
So you ask what have I actually seen in the way of how my clothes are fitting; Here are the following changes:
- I have decreased from a 22 inch neck to an 18 inch neck;
- I have decreased from a 60 inch waist to a 50 inch waist; and
- I have decreased from a 5XLT shirt to a 3XLT shirt!
However, I will not be running out and purchasing a new wardrobe!
Admittedly, from Thursday (after my appointment) through yesterday I temporarily fell off with my eating habits and I have not done any cardio since Wednesday night, so I will be getting back on track in both areas today and keep moving forward.
As I was surfing the net this week, I came across some information that may or may not be helpful to someone:

next the U.S. News and World Report on the Top Diets for 2012 (Best Diets for Diabetes, Heart Disease, Weight Loss, and More) written by Annie Hauser
1. Best Overall Diet and Best Healthy Eating Plan: The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) Diet
2. Easiest Diet Plan, Best Diet for Weight Loss, and Best Commercial Diet: Weight Watchers
3. Best Diabetes Diet: The Biggest Loser Diet
4. Best Heart Healthy Diet: The Ornish Diet
Let's be clear that I am not recommending or endorsing any of these diets, especially since I have no personal experience with any of them. I personally do not believe in dieting; I believe in making lifestyle changes. One plan (that does contain the word "Diet") that I have personal experience with and saw results, is the Fat Smash Diet by Dr. Ian Smith from Celebrity Fit Club and the 50 Million Pound Challenge. Again, I am not making a recommendation. If you are interested in finding out more about the Fat Smash Diet, pick up one of the books at your local book retailer or online.
