In 2013, I am going to add the following three journals to this blog:
- Health and Wellness;
- Fitness; and
- Weight Loss.
I have been collecting articles in these three areas all year, thus I will begin to post this information.
2012 Activity Wrap Up
In October 2012, I participated in an 80K (52 miles) bike ride. While I did not complete the ride due to leg cramping and time (I had to coach a soccer game), I have never ridden 20+ miles in one direction prior to that day. I would up completing 36 miles of the ride.
More importantly, I made it to my game on time and my team won!!!!!!!!
On the morning of Thanksgiving, I participated in a 10K (6.2 miles) Turkey Trot. This was the first time that I attempted to run any type of race. I completed the race and I have to admit that I felt great. I am searching for other 5K or 10K races.
As a warm up to the Turkey Trot (11/22/12), on 11/20/12, I walked 20 laps (10 miles) around a neighborhood park while wearing a 40lb weighted vest!
On December 10th, I cycled on a stationary bicycle for 5 straight hours while wearing a 40lb weighted vest, completing 33 miles! And, also during this month, I surpassed my original best of 2 straight hours on the elliptical by completed 2.5 straight hours on the elliptical! I am now using the elliptical at the highest level incline (30) and the highest level of resistance (10). Last night, I completed 80 minutes at those levels.
At the beginning of this calendar year, I set a goal to complete 400 miles of activity (walking, running, cycling, elliptical, etc...); As of last night, I have completed 1,905 miles of activity!!!!!!!!
Lastly, I am still working towards my goal of competing in a Sprint Triathlon in the Summer of 2013!
