New Year, New Activity and New Challenges

Happy New Year!

I incorporated swimming into my workout arsenal. I went swimming last Saturday (12/29/12) in a 23 meter pool and completed 15 laps (swimming) and 4 laps (running in the pool). Prior to that day, I had not swam laps in a pool in well over 30 years. I returned to the pool on Monday (12/31/12) and completed 24 laps (swimming) and 10 laps (running in the pool).

Last year I challenged myself to complete 400 miles through working out. I completed 1,926.23 miles, which equated to 227 workouts for a total of 352.07 hours for the year! This year I am challenging myself to complete 2,190 miles through working out, which is an average of 6 miles a day as well as burning a minimum of 1,750 (1/2 of a pound) calories a day.

Finally, I completed the year weighing 295lbs, which is an accomplishment in itself since I began the year weighing 324lbs, lost 24lbs (to achieve my first goal) and plateaued at 300lbs for a few months only to gain 26lbs (to go back to 326lbs) and then finally breaking through the plateau of 300lbs and completing the year with a bang.
