I came across this article in a SAM'S Club magazine and I wanted to share it with the reading public.
Losing 120 Pounds on the "Hard Work Plan" by Andy Axsom
By the time I started my career, I had ballooned up to 385 pounds. I was in bad shape physically and emotionally. My doctor asked me if I had ever thought about weight loss surgery, but I felt I needed to give losing weight naturally a good faith effort.
So, in August of 2011, I started working out with a personal trainer twice a week. I began eating healthier and bought fresh food and vitamins at my local Sam's Club. I also started running three times a week, which was tough. In the beginning, I couldn't run a city block. But I haven't wavered in my dedication. When people ask me how I've lost weight, I tell them I'm on the "hard work plan."
Today, I've lost 120 pounds with a goal of losing 150. The biggest difference in my life isn't just how I feel physically, but in how I feel about myself.
Andy's "Hard Work Plan" Success Tips
- Make a two-month commitment to stick with a diet and exercise plan.
- Focus on continual improvement. If you run a mile one day, run a mile and a quarter the next.
- Track your progress every day.
- Involve others. Find accountability partners, ask for help and share your experiences.
- Use your struggles to fuel future success. I've struggled a lot, but working through each challenge has helped me to continually commit to working harder, eating better and focusing more.
- Have fun. You're improving your life!
