And The Beat Goes On

For those of you old enough to appreciate the title, that is my little shot out to The Whispers, who were on Unsung last night.

As you are all aware, I set a goal of getting down to 280 lbs by March 31, 2013. As of this morning, I weigh 279 lbs! This represents a total weight loss of 107 lbs! I began the new year weighing 297 lbs and have been up and down since then. Two weeks ago, on a Friday, I reached 282 lbs; however, I did not eat well over the weekend and the first couple of days of the week. Therefore, my weight climbed back up to 290 lbs. I made my way back down to 283 lbs and held there for a few days, then went up to 284 lbs for a couple of days. Yesterday, I completed 76 minutes on my elliptical at max level incline and max level resistance and that evening, I swam laps in a 23 meter pool for 86 minutes. The result of those two workouts was a 5 lb loss, thus the 279 lbs I weighed in at this morning.

According to the title, the beat does go on. The real work begins now. Now is when I have to maintain what I have achieved and build upon it.

Recent Accomplishments:

- I incorporated Tae Bo and Billy Blank's Boot Camp into my workout regime (1 hour for each workout).
- I swam 42 laps and ran 42 laps in a 23 meter pool (01/13/13).
- I am now averaging 100 minutes on my treadmill every time I use it.
- I completed three (3) continuous hours on my elliptical at max level incline and max level resistance (02/13/13).
- I walked 22 miles at a speed of 5 mph, taking 34,846 steps and burning 3,443 calories (03/03/13).

My motivation for all of this hard work, is to come off of all of my medication this year! I have been informed by my physician that if my blood work looks as good, or better, in May as it did in January, then he will take me off of my diabetic medication.

For all those individuals working on weight loss, improved health, etc...my encouragement to you is to keep pushing forward no matter the setbacks, they are only temporary!
